There’s a quiet revolution happening in the fields of British Columbia, and it’s not just the hum of bees among the vines. It’s the silent, smooth glide of the Monarch MK-V, the world’s first 100% electric, autonomous, data-driven tractor. Thanks to Rollins Machinery, a trusted name in B.C. agriculture since 1946, the Monarch tractor has officially arrived to power up the province’s vineyards and orchards.
Rooted in the Mondavi family’s commitment to sustainability, Monarch Tractor was co-founded by Carlo Mondavi in 2018 in California to revolutionize farming. Designed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and harmful chemicals, the Monarch MK-V is helping protect vineyards and agricultural lands for future generations.
The electric Monarch provides up to 14 hours of battery or extended operation and the 5.6kw exportable power enables farmers to operate tools in the field efficiently.
What truly sets the Monarch MK-V apart is its Autodrive technology. The tractor can be programmed to run specific tasks without a driver. After a short setup to map the rows, it autonomously handles the job.
With 360-degree cameras and sensors, the tractor ensures safety by automatically stopping if someone or something comes within 10 metres. The auto-stop feature keeps workers, animals and crops safe, restarting only when it’s clear. And through the Wingspan Ag Intelligence app, farmers can monitor the tractor remotely and receive real-time alerts from a cell phone.
