Building equipment is a challenge. No two operations are the same and everybody has unique needs. That’s why we’re constantly making adjustments — tweaks to optimize function, improve fit or adapt to particular conditions. Over the years, this hands-on approach has evolved naturally into a core part of our business: creating custom-built solutions when off-the-shelf equipment just won’t cut it.
While designing a product from scratch can seem cost-prohibitive compared to mass-produced alternatives, sometimes the commercial options simply don’t fit the task. In some cases, there’s no other choice — a piece of equipment needs to be precisely tailored for a very specific job.
The biggest challenge? Predicting how a custom design will perform in the real world. From rocky soil that demands a reinforced auger or plow, to wear points that need to be anticipated, the unknowns can be tricky. That’s where having a dedicated team of designers, machinists, fabricators and support staff in house, along with some local insight give the Munckhof team an edge in developing products that work.
