A new framework for a seven-year contract agreement has been confirmed between BC Tree Fruits Cooperative and Union UFCW Local 247
This agreement provides long-service employees the opportunity to continue their contracts with the cooperative.
One year prior to the current contract expiring, BCTF began union negotiations to address union concerns. An agreement has been reached that supports both union employees and the growth goals of the cooperative as a whole.
“The new contract provides increased job security and employment opportunities for over 400 hourly employees across the Okanagan as well increased flexibility and productivity for management,” said BCTF CEO Alan Tyabji.
The framework of the seven-year agreement was agreed upon on Oct. 3rd and the details of the contract are continuing to be developed by union and management leaders.
“We are extremely pleased with the terms of the agreement which support the future growth and long term goals of BC Tree Fruits Cooperative,” said Tyabji.
