Stomp local grapes with friends and family in this one-of-a-kind competition, taking place Sunday September 24 as part of the popular Festival of the Grape in Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country. Register for your spot on stage and see if you have what it takes to take home the grand prize, plus the ultimate bragging rights of being named 2023 Grape Stomp Champions!
“We look forward to this outrageous activity every year,” says Jennifer Busmann, executive director of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country. “Not only is it a ton of fun but also a great opportunity to welcome guests to our region during harvest and open their eyes to winemaking practices of the past and present.”
Space is limited to just 30 coveted team spots ($120 per team of three, includes festival entry, stomping souvenirs, treats from Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country and wine tasting tokens). Registration closes Friday September 15.
Teams are encouraged to wear fun and creative costumes for the stomping battle, where they will be given a barrel containing 40 pounds of grapes to stomp as quickly as they can in three minutes. On stage and before a cheering crowd, six heats of five teams will compete throughout the day before the top six teams go head-to-head in one final competition. The top three teams with the best costumes and who can siphon off the most juice will be rewarded with prizes from Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country.
Festival grounds bring together a cornucopia of British Columbia wineries, many from the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country region, alongside delicious food trucks and artisan merchants. Browse the Fall Art Show & Sale, enjoy live music, check out the Kids Zone with interactive games and crafts for little ones and of course, cheer on the lively Grape Stomp. Tickets include festival entry, commemorative wine glass and six drink tickets ($40 per person).
