James Cambridge
Langley, BC… Backyard Vineyards owner Trent Blackwell is thrilled to announce that James Cambridge has taken the position of resident winemaker at Backyard Vineyards. Cambridge comes to Backyard with a wealth of knowledge in both viticulture and winemaking, and an industry background in most of the major wine regions of Canada.
“Our Backyard is growing rapidly and we really feel it is time to have our winemaker on site, hands on year round. I believe that the addition of James, in house and on the ground, will only increase the quality of great, affordable wines that are the backbone of Backyard Vineyards” says Blackwell.
Cambridge started his career in oenology 15 years ago. He studied at Niagara College, completing a fully integrated Oenology/Viticulture Program and graduated at the top of his class. Cambridge has since gone on to work for some of Canada’s most respected wineries including Henry of Pelham, Creekside Estate Winery, Summerhill Estate Winery, Le Vieux Pin, LaStella Estate Winery, and Fort Berens Estate Winery.
Now at Backyard Vineyards, James looks forward to working with farmers in the Okanagan Valley and the estate grown fruit in the Fraser Valley. Combining the best of both valleys is great new adventure for this well-established winemaker, and his backyard is now where he grows and makes quality, affordable wines for everyday and every celebration.
