A group of agricultural leaders from across BC gathered at Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, Peachland, on June 24.
Marquis Wine Cellars is bringing Vancouver’s wine community together in support of Summerland with a Summerland Fire Relief Fundraiser on Wednesday, August 26, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Hosted by Marquis Wine Cellars owner John Clerides, the public tasting will feature wines from Summerland alongside select Marquis Exclusives, with more participating wines and producers to be announced. Admission is by a suggested $20 cash donation at the door, and Marquis will match the total amount raised. Featured wines will also be available for purchase at 10 per cent off, with snacks provided by Marquis.
The event offers an opportunity not only to support wildfire relief efforts, but also to connect with members of Summerland’s wine community.
Christine Coletta, co-founder of Haywire Winery, will attend in person and will be available to speak with guests about her experience during the Bald Range wildfire, its impact on the community and the growing #SummerlandStrong effort to support Summerland businesses and residents through recovery.
Peter Marshall of Sur Lie Imports will also be on hand pouring wines from Solvero Wines.
Wines from Summerland’s Pamplemousse Jus and Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards will also be poured, with additional participating wines to come.
A suggested admission of $20 cash donation at the door. Marquis Wine Cellars will match the total amount raised, effectively doubling the impact of donations made through the fundraiser. Funds will be divided equally among Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen – Wildfire Response Fund, Central Okanagan Food Bank and Paws It Forward Dog Rescue.
