Canadian contemporary figurative sculptor David Robinson's Equestrian
First up: Canadian contemporary figurative sculptor David Robinson will showcase three of his creations, including his extraordinary work, Equestrian, at Liquidity Wines this summer. It is on display now until the end of the 2019 season in October.
For more than 25 years, David has been a major player on the Canadian art scene, with public artworks that include Windward Calm at the Vancouver General Hospital and Reflections on the River at the Fort McMurray Airport. A recent recipient of the Langara College Outstanding Alumni Award, David is currently creating two large-scale commissions for Trent University and Dentons LLP, and he is the subject of a documentary that is expected to screen at film festivals this coming fall.
And he’s looking forward to seeing his art featured at Liquidity Wines this summer, too.David will talk about his pieces showcased at Liquidity Aug. 17 at 3 pm in the Premium Tasting Lounge.
“I’m delighted to be showing at Liquidity this year,” David says. “It’s always meaningful to see the artwork in a new environment, and Liquidity’s Ian MacDonald has done a brilliant job cultivating a beautiful setting for the sculpture.”
Also coming up this season, we have award-winning Canadian photographer Philip Jarmain, who will present American Beauty: The Opulent Pre-Depression Architecture of Detroit, June 1 to July 1, 2019. Mixed media artist Lyle XOX will launch his first Canadian solo exhibition, Head of Design, Sept. 7 through Oct. 14 at Liquidity Wines. Wine & Words is an intimate winery setting with some of the world’s best literary talents. Novelists Esi Edugyan — author of the Giller Prize-winning novel Washington Black — and Steven Price will be our first literary guests on July 27.
