“Celebrate a Century of Science” Public Speaker Series
Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre’s (PARC) 4200 Highway 97 South, Summerland, British Columbia V0H 1Z4
Did you know that Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s research centre in Summerland is turning 100 this year? We’re hosting a series of talks, starting June 11, to highlight a century of agriculture and science in the Okanagan. Come learn more about farming and food as we celebrate 100 years of science.
The first talk will highlight the early days of Summerland and of the research farm. Speakers will include retired PARC scientist Dr. Frank Kappel and local historian David Gregory. Dr. Kappel helped develop many of PARC’s cherry varieties which have allowed local growers to gain a reputation around the world as producers of high quality cherries.
The event will be held at PARC, in the Main conference room.
